non-interference in power, also derive from the approval of the
constitutional amendment by referendum in 1958 with the principles
contained in the constitution: principles of legal equality and intolerance
of social classes, which had existed before the French Revolution.
2. Developing the roles and power of the
Thai Senate from the past to the present
Senators were usually appointed until political reforms
in 1997. The Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, B.E. 2540
[1997] has allowed people to participate more in politics. This can
be seen from the establishment of an independent organization
to inspect the exercise of state power, impeach political and civil
servants from their position, and change the origin and composition
of parliamentarians, and directly elect the 200 senate’s member.
In addition, this Constitution stipulates that the Senate have more
powers and duties, selects persons to hold positions in independent
and significant organizations, has the power and duty to impeach
any offending persons from their position as provided by law.
However, the principles have been eliminated from the claims that
many independent organizations have been interfered with, and the
members of the House of Representatives and the Senate have close
familial relationships, making the performance of the senators’ duties,
both in legislative and in the control of the state administration,
inefficient and lack objectivity.
