“Injustice”' has been perceived concerning the prosecution
of political protesters since 2020. The first significant milestone that
ignited the new generation political movement was the Constitutional
Court's decision on February 21, 2020, to dissolve the Future Forward
Party. In response, students across the country initiated flash mobs and
other gatherings, including the Youth Liberation Group (Free Youth) and
the #Let'sRunHamtaro centered around the theme of “Harry Potter”,
“#Making Spells”, defenders of democracy, and #ThammasatNot
Tolerated, with the marker burial of the People's Party 2020. In 2021,
the level of violence escalated. Measures and lawsuits are imposed
to dissolve the riots at a more intense level."
Between July 18, 2020 to December 25, 2021, more than 1,747
protesters of the Youth Liberation Rally were prosecuted for political
expression, resulting in 980 separate cases. Rulings have been made
in 150 cases, resulting in fines. Consequently, more than 830 cases are
in progress at various stages of the legal process.
