for traders and service recipients. Therefore, the recommendation for
addressing economic inequality is to empower the parliament to amend

laws in ways consistent with fair competition in trade and the economy.
Alternatively, a special commission may be established to address law

enforcement issues or related mechanisms to promote fair competition
and propose amendments with the involvement of political parties.

To break down monopoly capital and enhance entrepreneurial potential
in the retail sector, amendments to the Trade Competition Act should be

pursued. Additionally, the utilization of fiscal measures to distribute wealth
are crucial for furthering the development of the country's economy.

Issue 3: Environmental Injustice in Two Case Studies

           1) Pak Mun Dam, Ubon Ratchathani Province; and 2) Bang Kloi

           Villagers, Kanchanaburi Province.

The villagers in the area of Pak Mun Dam, Ubon Ratchathani
Province, demanded fairness from the state due to economic inequality.

Pak Mun villagers lived on fishing in the Mun River Basin and they were
doing well. After the dam project took place, however, villagers no longer

had their stable source of income. Some went from fishing to work
for a living in unfamiliar fields causing demonstrations to demand

           compensation from the government.
