                                        During  King  Prajadhipok's  reign, the  telephone  service  started  in  1907 was  expanded  due  to
                                        popular demand.  Enabling  calls  to  be  made  to  provinces  near  Bangkok.  Preparations  were
                                        initially  made  in  1929  for  an  automatic  telephone  system,  the  operation  of  which  was  fully
                                        realized in  1937.

                                        On  1 August  1926, Navy  Wireless  Telegraph  Stations  in  Bangkok  and  Songkla came  under
                                        jurisdiction of The Post and Telegraph Department.  Modern transmitters enabled faster commu·
                                        nication.

                                        On 25 February 1931 , the King's speech to attendants at his Coronation Anniversary Ceremony
                                        at Amarindra Hall, Grand Palace was broadcasted.  This was the first programme broadcasted
                                       from  Phya Thai  Palace, the first broadcasting station under the  management of the Ministry of
                                        Commerce and Communication.

                                        King  Prajadl1ipok  had  the  idea  of  a  democratic  system  of  government  for  Siam.  For
                                       such a system to work effectively, His Majesty considered public education the most essential.
                                        He therefore paid great intention to the Kingdom's educational activities.  The policy was to lose
                                       no time in providing education for a greater number of people.

                                       Academy, with its syllabus and regulations revised. Government school included military training
