Prince Prajadhipok (seated left), promoted to the rank of Army Captain, Commander of the
Battery of the Royal Artillery Guard. He was later transferred to the Office of General Staff,
Second Army Corps, and was subsequently promoted to the rank of Major, serving as comman-
dant of the Junior Cadet School before entering monkhood in 1917.
Ordained monk at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and stayed through the lent period of
three months at Wat Bovornives with His Royal Higness Prince Manusayanaka Manob,
Kromphraya Vajirayarnvaroros, Patriach of The Kingdom, as mentor.

After medical treatment, King Prajadhipok joined L'Ecole de Guerre, Paris, for further military
study. He was then attached to the 20'" Army Corps. He graduated on 25 April 1924, and
was qualified as General Staff Officer of the French Army. He returned home in December 1924
and was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff. He was promoted to the rank of Colonel in the same
year. In 1925, he became Commander of the Second Devision and Honorary Commander of the
Second Artillery Regiment.
