Political podcasts in Thailand have set a record in Laos ( The Power Game ) ,
demonstrating that Thai podcasts are popular outside the country as well. The disadvantage
of Thai-language podcasts is that they limit the listener base due to language barriers.
Thai podcasters have restrictions in their shows’ content. For example, when the Thai
government declared a serious emergency situation on October 15, 2020, the podcasters
carefully organized their shows to inform their listeners. This clearly illustrates that Thai media
enjoys a lesser degree of freedom compared to the United States and the United Kingdom.
Thai political podcast listeners choose to listen to shows they are interested in; in other
words, they tend to agree with the podcaster's opinion. There were no negative comments
about shows hosted by political veterans.
To sum up, political podcasts are considered to be popular in these countries and are
likely to grow in terms of the number of shows and the listener base. Podcasts act as a means
for expanding the consumer base for media organizations, a channel for political campaigning,
and a platform for introducing academic research, scholars, and educational institutions and
organizations.
