8   Siam - Rising Sun Under King Prajadhipok




                         The earliest Japanese evidence referring to Siam was the
                diplomatic records and the dealings between Ryukyu Kingdom
                                                                                    2
                (Rekidai Hoan) and other kingdoms from 1414 A.D. to 1867 A.D.  “Siam”
                appeared on the documents from 1425 A.D. to 1570 A.D. as one of the

                kingdoms in the southeastern sea where Ryukyu Kingdom sent junks to
                trade. The documents showed the total number of 107 trade junks from
                Ryukyu Imperial Court to Melayu Kingdom (Malay Archipelago) and Ayutthaya

                Kingdom in the late 15th – 16th Century. 61 of them came to to Ayutthaya
                Kingdom.
