Executive Summary
Research Report: Good Governance Challenges and National Strategies
This research on Good Governance Challenges and National Strategies was undertaken with
the objective of studying 1) the operation’s level according to the national strategy under the
good governance of government organizations 2) to compare the implementation’s level
according to the national strategy under good governance, classified by personal factors 3) the
factors influencing the implementation of the national strategy under the good governance of
government organizations 4) the condition of problems and obstacles in the implementation
of the National Science Program under the good governance of government organizations and
5) the guidelines for the operations’ development according to the national science in
balancing and developing the management system of government organizations. This research
is a combined quantitative research. The sample groups used in the research were personnel
under the Department of Tourism, Department of Elderly Affairs, Department of Local
Administration, Legal Execution Department, Department of Business Development and the
Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, in total of six departments (government
agencies). The sample size was determined by using the G * Power sample calculation program
with the sample size of 618 people. A questionnaire with a five-level rating scale was
implemented. The statistics used in data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard
deviation, Pearson's multiple correlation coefficient, one-way variance multiple analysis, and
multiple regression analysis. The key informants for the qualitative research were 15
executives or representatives of the Department of Tourism, Department of Elderly Affairs,
Department of Local Administration in the Number of Legal Execution Department,
Department of Business Development, and Department of Environmental Quality Promotion.
The implemented tools were in-depth interviews and analyzation by interpretation.
The quantitative research was divided into two survey parts: the department that did not pass
the good governance criteria of the NCC Office. There were three departments, namely the
Department of Tourism, Department of Elderly Affairs, Department of Local Administration.
The results show that the factors influencing the implementation of the national strategy
under the overall good governance principles are at a high level with an average of 3.57 (=3.57,
S.D.=.63, Factor Level= High). Once classified as individual factors, the result shows that 12
factor levels influencing the implementation of the strategy under the good governance
principle were at a high average level and with 1 mean average level. The following three
factors had the highest values.
