Point of view on the implementation of MRAs

by Ms. Nussara Sarasitt, representative from the Central Labour
                 Court

At present, there are many criminal cases about
foreign workers arrested for immigration law violation. Thus,
this can be considered one of the most serious obstacles of

MRAs implementation. Furthermore, other Thai laws concerning
labor rights protection and foreign workers are out of date.

In my opinion, these domestic laws need to be reviewed in
compliance with the MRAs and I hope that this forum may
                 suggest the appropriate amendment.

Point of view on the implementation of MRAs

by Dr. Rene Ofreneo, University of the Philippines:

I would like to mention that we should recognize the
skill of both the skilled and the unskilled workers; in other

words, both of them have skills. Another point that we should
recognize is that the low skilled workers actually make a major
contribution to GDP; for example, in Malaysia, like in Thailand,

industry and fishery may collapse if there are no foreign
                 workers.
