have roles and authority to pursue truth to determine guilt or innocence
of the accused, their behavior, as evidenced by a released video clip
as examined in this study, can be exceedingly cruel and inhumane.
Furthermore, the officers in the case exploited their advantage as
individuals with knowledge and expertise in investigation to manipulate
the case and evade punishment for the most serious charges, as outlined
in the Criminal Code, Section 288 and Section 289(5). In the end, they
were compelled to surrender crucial evidence, a challenging video clip,
despite their initial denials of guilt in the murder case.
Reform of the criminal investigation system in Thailand should
encompass restructuring the criminal investigation system, reforming
management practices within the police organization, and enhancing
cooperation mechanisms across the entire criminal investigation system.
The primary focus should be on establishing mechanisms that balance
the power of police officers involved in criminal investigations and
promoting the utilization of forensic science in investigations to instill
confidence in the entire criminal justice system. Criminal investigation
is needed to help reduce serious crimes that violate human rights.
Individuals will be less inclined to transgress the country's laws when
there is a real possibility of being apprehended, prosecuted, and penalized
in accordance with the law. If successfully implemented, these reforms
will contribute to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that the
principles of the rule of law are realized in Thai society.
