Table 23.1. Distribution of regime supporters between 1996 and 2018
What social groups have maintained sturdy support for democracy and what
other groups turned to hybridisation of South Korean democracy? Table 23.1 reveals
pessimistic results in that hybridisation of regime support is evident across all social
and political groups between 1996 and 2008, whereas the proportion of full
democrats has substantially declined in all groups. Interesting is that the drop in การอภิปราย
the proportion of full democrats and the rise in that of hybrids are strong among
those of the democratizing actors identified by the recent actor-centric theories:
