In addition, this election is 8 years away from the last election in 2011, political

contexts, economical contexts and societal contexts have changed in many aspects. On the political
contexts such as the political climate under the administration of the Prayut government, the new

constitution which sets out a new electoral system which is different from previous elections,
awakening of citizens who want to exercise their voting rights including the first voter - a young

person with a lifestyle that is different from the previous generation. On the economical contexts,
there has been a deterioration in the economy. On the societal contexts such as the widespread

use of social media in everyday life, including the exchange of political information. Therefore,
this election is interesting in research for the development of Thai politics in terms of elections

which will affect the overall picture of Thai politics.

In the part of Songkhla Province which is one of the important provinces of the southern
region. Since the election on 13 September 1992, popularly known as the 1992/2 election,

because there were two elections that year, until the last election on July 3, 2011, the Democrat
Party dominated the popularity absolutely every constituencies. But the March 24, 2019 election,

under the new electoral system, created more than 30 political parties proposing to send candidates
in the Songkhla province.The number of candidates in each constituency was more than 30,

the highest record ever more than any election. Several parties are actively engaged in political
activities hoping to win over the Democratic Party which is different from previous elections

as various political parties not seriously engaged in political activities because they were not
convinced that their own party would be able to beat the Democrat Party.

In addition, from the observation and survey from both national and local media, it was

found that people have high political consciousness. Demanding an election because of 8 years
of abstention. Political polls from local media found that citizens would like to vote

based on the party’s policies. Wanting to vote a new candidate and new political party
in a higher proportion than the former political party is an indicator that this election will lead to

political changes in Songkhla province.
