Resolving the crisis of unfair economic competition involves various
dimensions. Creating an economy that promotes fair competition
would foster opportunities for economic development, innovation, and
technological advancement in society. Strengthening small business
operators would help them become more competitive with larger
enterprises in the market. This would not only facilitate the diversification
of businesses across the country, but also reduce the current concentration
of business primarily in Bangkok and its suburbs. To achieve these goals,
the 2017 Trade Competition Act must be amended to ensure clear and
flexible provisions and prevent misuse by regulatory agencies in ways
that conflict with the spirit of economic competition law. Additionally,
regulatory agencies should operate independently with no interference
from political parties and influential business sectors. These independent
measures will lead to more efficient enforcement of the law.
In order for e-marketplace platforms to continue growing
sustainably, it is crucial to create confidence and fairness for all parties,
