Abstract
The objectives of this research are 1) to study and analyze the
development of citizen politics since the changing of absolute monarchy to
constitutional monarchy in 1932 2) to forecast trends in citizen politics, and
3) to propose the guidelines for preventing risks that will affect the citizen
politics. The methodologies of the study are literature review on the concepts,
related theories and related research. The data is collected by focus group
meetings in eight areas in every region of Thailand and by in-depth interviews
with the experts. This study also utilizes the Foresight methods to analyze,
forecast, explain future changes and develop the scenarios. This also leads
to the preparation of guidelines for risk prevention and strengthening citizen
politics. The results show that the development of citizen politics in Thailand
has improved. However, there is a forward alternating backward depending
on various factors influencing political context and society. The citizen
politics in Thailand can be classified into 8 periods, 1) Bureaucratic polity
2) Dictatorship 3) Struggle for Democracy 4) Citizen Politics Recession
5) Emergence of Citizen Politics 6) Citizen Constitution and Revitalization
of citizen politics 7) Democratic Recession and 8) Young Generation
