Abstract

This study analyzed knowledge of environmental politics to address the question of
whether and how the existent research supports the environmental movement in Thailand.

The research methodology relied on a qualitative approach. The methods comprised a
systematic review of 1 9 5 research studies concerning environmental politics drawn from

Thailand and an international database, interviews with 13 experts, and four focus groups with
4 9 practitioners. The collected data were analyzed by thematic content analysis using

Microsoft Office Excel and QDA Miner Lite program. The results showed that the research
papers from Thailand supported the environmental movement within the government sector.

The studies were about environmental policy decision-making, law amendment, and
improving public participation. At the same time, the civil society sector promoted their
movement by means of many studies about lessons learned regarding people’s movements

in environmental issues. In terms of a linkage with sustainable development goals, in Thailand
none of the research tied to sustainable development goals. In terms of foreign research,

some studies evidently relate to sustainable development goals. Therefore, Thailand should
be encouraged to produce more research about sustainable development goals. Moreover,
the measures to support environmental collaboration among various sectors in Thai society

               should be studied further.
