I’m just going to say one last thing and then I’m finished here. It is the
conflict in each of us, between the tension within each of us, if you will,
between wanting to do what’s best for myself, and wanting to do what’s best
for society. I know that, individually, when I often do things that are not good
for society because it’s good for me, that’s just me within myself. But, then
when I’m talking within my family, we sometimes make decisions on what’s
good for us, individually as opposed to society. How do we wrestle with that is
a key factor of democracy that goes on through all levels of society, through
communities, neighborhoods, and of course globally. So, that is the last point
                        then.

And, I like the statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs from
Thailand when handing over the Chairmanship of the G77 to whatever other
country took it over after Thailand. And in that statement, a longer statement
than this, of course, he pointed out that sufficiency economy encourages us to
make decisions on all aspects of our lives, on the basis of moderation, reason,
reasonableness, and prudence. And I’m hoping that through Thailand’s
leadership in the Group of 77, and in other parts of the world like my own
country, we can see the possibility from moving forward to achieving win-wins,
that people in the 1930s could not conceive of because they did not think of
the environment at that time at all. But in this day and age, this is the only
way forward I think and I’m very happy that Thailand is taking the lead. I’m
happy that the KPI is introducing these topics into thinking about the topic of
democracy. How do you structure a democracy, so that they can take
advantage of what Thailand already has to offer? It’s not something new to
your country; to my country it is. And we’ve had good fortune to know some
Thais, who recently came to Canada and started a little bit to give us some
information. But, it’s very slow, whereas here you’ve already got a head start
and other countries can learn from you as well. So, thank you very much for
what you are doing. We’re very happy to know you are here and doing it.
                        Thank you.
