society in the face of contemporary security threats such as cyber threats,
economic disruption, and climate change. Contemporary security threats can be
diverse and differ considerably in response to social trends and the surrounding
environment. Such threats can be divided into two main categories: natural
challenges, which occur naturally and are hard to control, and societal challenges,
which occur at the individual or the social level. All of these challenges affect the
politics of a society.

A democratic regime with principles for ensuring the well-being of the people
is an essential tool for building stability. Violence and conflict can be suppressed
through democratic processes that respect people’s rights and participation as a
priority. Therefore, it can be said that democracy and non-traditional security go
hand in hand. Democratic regimes have mechanisms that promote rights and
freedoms, respect for human dignity, adherence to good governance, and the goals
of providing people with peace and an acceptable standard of living. These
principles are consistent with non-traditional security’s focus on matters of human
and social security. However, democracies face new, unexpected risks and threats
from non-traditional sources such as cyber theft, lack of resources, the spread of
infectious diseases, global climate change, increasing inequality in various
dimensions, and the emergence of new technologies such as artificial intelligence
and cryptocurrency that replace old practices.

Therefore, in the face of new security challenges for Thailand, the key points
to consider are how democratic governance can manage and address the new
security challenges, and how Thailand can face these new security challenges. How
will these issues affect Thai democracy? What would be appropriate
countermeasures and prevention methods? Is Thailand ready to adapt and develop
to become a society of opportunity, capability, justice, and peace? Through this,
Thai people can strengthen their humanity and support new security in various
dimensions such as technology, common humanity, and global humanity towards
becoming fully democratic good global citizens who are ready to adapt to a new
way of life 2

For this reason, King Prajadhipok’s Institute, an academic institution with a
mission to develop democracy and good governance for the sustainable benefit of
the people, has recognized the importance of these issues. Therefore, the 24 KPI

Congress has been organized as a forum to exchange academic knowledge and
