for 59.35%. Out of the total number of ballot papers used to vote, 90.04% were valid,
3.9% were invalid, and 6.06% were abstained votes.

Voter behaviors. Results of a survey in Khon Kaen reveal that a quarter of the
people were anticipating the PAO elections at the highest level. Based on the

respondents’ opinion, the top three most commonly used campaigning techniques for
political communication with the public were mobile cars with amplifiers, handing out
flyers, and knocking on doors. For factors affecting their voting decisions, the survey
results show that the majority of the constituents were neither attached to the

national political climate nor the exchange of benefits between candidates and
themselves. They rather put more weight on the policy of the campaign and the
person.

Election results. For the election of Khon Kaen PAO council members in 42
electoral districts, among the 42 winners, 22 people won the previous election in 2012.

It also found that although some former members of the PAO council did not run for
the 2020 election in their original area, they propose or support candidates who are
part of their family to run for the election. The result of the CEO, Mr. Pongsak

Tangwanichkphong, who has served as the CEO of Khon Kaen PAO since 1998, again
won the election with 49.25% of the votes. It should be noted that, in the previous
election, he won the seat with 77.88% of the votes. This difference indicated that Mr.
Pongsak was significantly less popular among the Khon Kaen constituents.
