                                                      ABSTRACT


                         The research aims to investigate the health information behavior and

                  the role of local  women  village  health volunteers  (VHVs)  in educating
                  communities, include increasing community participation and guidance for

                  enhancing the  participation  of  local women VHVs  for prevention,

                  surveillance and control of the COVID-19 outbreak in Chiang Mai Province.
                  This  research employed a  mixed-method  for  the  investigation, and the

                  research  instruments compound  with  questionnaires,  semi-structured in-

                  depth interviews are utilized extensively as interviewing format, possibly
                  with an individual or sometimes even with a group. The sample groups for

                  the quantitative study were 250 Local women VHVs, and the key informants

                  for in-depth interviews were 40 local women VHVs. All of them habituated
                  in  four  subdistricts:  Suthep,  Mae Hia, Fa  Ham,  and Tha Sala Subdistrict,

                  located at Mueang Chiang  Mai  District, Chiang Mai Province.  The

                  questionnaires were used for quantitative data collection and later taken for
                  the statistic description: frequency,  percentage,  mean,  and standard

                  deviation.

                         The findings are local women VHVs demand health information for

                  dealing with the spread of COVID-19; they are seeking health information

                  from reliable sources; and health information they obtained was applicable
                  for  solving the  problems, including health information and knowledge

                  selection from clearly  identified  sources. In addition,  the problems
                  encountered in the field works were low, and it clearly shows that most local

                  women VHVs possess technological devices for seeking health information,
