Actually, Germany is quite equal country when it come to income at least.
The income is very distributed. If you see the map of Europe, you will see unequal
countries. Also Uk, it is unequal than in Germany. We have an equal income
because our system is distributed a lots of income. Let’s say you are engineering in
ministry and have salary 8000US dollar. In the end, you pay a lot of social security
scheme, state tax, in the end you get home at 4000US dollar. If you’re a nurse,
and a family, you have a marketing for 4000 US dollar, you take home 3000Us
Dollar.
So, the distribution is strong in Germany. If you look at Ginni co (coefficient)
that measure, if you look at the market, the Ginni co is 0.508 but this transfers all
mechanism, it goes down to 0.3, So, 0.5 is actually the same as we have in the
US. But we have a very strong market. That is only the first sight. If you go a
little deeper. We actually have a strong income equality in the region. This is the
income solution within the district. We can see the wall going through 30 years
ago. You can see the economic power, Mercedes, BMW. Here you have East
Germany, it is initially known that it is industry for 40 years since the socialist have
ruled economy and the situation is still very bad in region. We can see the big
income different between east and west in Germany. Despite huge transfer from
East to West more than 2 trillion Euro of investment. And that, of course, led to a
big migration in Germany. So, the last decades of young people, smart people, they
went actually from east Germany to west Germany in strong economic and
successfully city. And the result is that the East Germany is populated by rather old
people, uneducated people and who are struggling to find a job. The other sides,
we are also have strong income differences in West Germany.

This is different than most big cities. Also, the area where we had a strong
code industry that called ‘Ruhgebiet’ in 50 years ago, that economic hub but now
you see it is white because the heavy industry went throughout Asia and other
countries. So, it is not economically feasible to have a great stear part anymore.
So, that is the first problem.
The second problem, it is very weak social mobility if you compare to other
OECD countries. It is actually huge problem because, epically, I am come from
liberal party. And there is an equal opportunity. As you can see, we don’t have a
real equality of opportunity in German, if you compare to other industrial countries.
Inequality is increasing problem in Germany because if you look at the
income. They develop in recent year. It is clearly see that the 10% richest or
higher income, they pretty experiences high growth their income. This is not the
