case for unskilled labored, the 10% lowest income of Germany. Actually, what you
can see from graph that the middle class income more disappear in Germany. This
is also the case in lot of of western countries. I really like the graph because it
looks like an elephant. You can see the tunk and this is the body of elephant. It is
explain a lot of income. If you look the world of income in recent years. This is
actually where I coming from, the Europe, middle class in Europe. You did not see
the income growth in the last 20 years.
This is Asia, there is the income growth, the middle class quite high. Those
are very rich people in Asia and of course in Europe. This is quite striking actually.
You can see the middle class did not gain the income at all in the recent years.
This graph is often use to the explanation for right wing populism, for Trump, for
Brexit and for the development that we had in recent years in the west.
This explanation to our right populism that we were experiencing over the last
2-3 years in Germany. We have a new party called, Deutschland, on the picture is
one of the leaders of the party. We did not have such a party in the last 50 years.
I mean not such a strong right wing. So, this experience in Germany and people
are now actually asked what has happening. Just last Sunday, we had three
national elections. They become a second the strong party in regional parliament.
They started as Anti-Europe-Party during debt crisis. Then, we had refugee crisis.
They became more anti-migration. They really colorize with Germany society. One of
the party leaders, you can actually allow him a ‘Fascist’ because the judge allow to
call him though. This is the situation of the party. They are some moderate
members but they are radical members.
The question is that why they did come up? As we are talking about
equality, I want to show that if inequality might be the reason why they are
appeared. If you look at the typical AFD voter. It is pretty clear that most likely is
the man, and rather old. Then, you have a very strong different between AFD voter
in the east and the west. In the west, they are rather say that they don’t have
such a big income. They are all manufacture sectors because of the globalisation.
In the east, it is pretty striking that they are from rural areas and undeveloped.
Schools are closing, hospitals are closing. Those are some academic, peer group’s เอกสารประกอบการอภิปรายร่วมระหว่างผู้แทนจากต่างประเทศ
voters. It seems there are some economic factors that equality might play a role.
Of course, a lot of academics are here difficult to find a monocausal explanation
but at least it seems to play a role that right party became a strong in the recent
years. That is all I want share with you.
