                    Filipino skilled migration in ASEAN

                             In recent years, countries in the ASEAN have embarked
                    to mutually recognize certain professions. That way, these

                    Southeast Asian professionals can work anywhere in the region.
                    The skilled professions with ASEAN Mutual Recognition
                    Agreements (MRAs) are accountants (signed February 2009),

                    architects (November 2007), dental professionals (August 2008),
                    medical professionals (August 2008), nursing professionals

                    (December 2006),  engineers (December 2005), surveying
                    (November 2007)  and skilled professionals in the tourism
                    sector (2012).


                             The development and enforcement of these MRAs
                    also came side-by-side with the approval of the ASEAN

                    Qualifications Reference Framework. In summary, this framework
                    allows workers’ educational qualifications to match those of

                    other ASEAN countries’ so as to harmonize workers’ educational
                    qualifications.

                             Individual ASEAN countries, including the Philippines,

                    thus made their qualifications frameworks. In the case of the
