Abstract

The research project, Roles of elder in development local wisdom follow

sufficiency economy at Tambon Khokmangngoi Khonsawan district of Chaiyaphum

province, is a qualitative research. The research focuses on the use of an in-depth
interview process for the elderly that involve local to society and community including

problem and obstructions in wisdom instruction, the local development guideline as a

base for generating income according to Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for making
proposals and policiesfor the welfare of elderly. So we use participator action research

method for in-depth data. This paper is a research which combined action research

and participator action research together.

The populations were the elders who live in 13 villages of Tambon

Khokmangngoi Khonsawan district of Chaiyaphum province. The sample was randomly

selected By Purposive sampling and set the sample size according to;

1. 10 in-depth interviews, including 5 men and 5 women, were conducted

with the elderly in the community, each with 2 villagers following 3 age ranges: 1) the

young-elder hood (60-69 years old) 2) The middle-elder hoodaged old (70-79 years
old) 3 ) the old - elder hood ( over 80 years old) 5 villages including 1) Baan

Khokmangngoi (village No. 2), 2) Baan Nonpradoo (village No. 3), 3) Baan Nongno (village

No.4), 4) Baan Nongno (village No.12) and Baan Khokmangngoi (village No. 10). They are
highest number of elderly populations in 1-5.

2. Focus Group Discussion or community which involved in the work of the

elderly. They are representing about 30 people in all sectors.

The result : The younger generation sees the inheritance of local wisdom.

It is quite difficult. When they are done, the goods are cheap. So local wisdom

instruction is limited to the majority of the elderly.

From the review of related literature, the researchers choose volunteers to join

this participatory research. The results can be summarized as follows.
