Women Status in Literature During the Reign of King Rama VII (1925~1934)
From the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV, 1851-1864) to King Prajadhipok (Rama VII, 1925-1934),
the Royal Court of Siam had initiative paying attention to the women's right in such a high level
meanings. As a result, there were the process of amendment to the law which were not only

affected to the legal status of Thai female, but also reflected the beginning of historical
development of Thai women status interestingly.
In the reign of King Prajadhipok, it emerged to have the progress of Thai women's

intellectual roles on rather bustle and unnoticed level. In other words, There were a gathering
of the elite women and writers' clubs to show a concrete role in the society. Especially, Women
writers had grouped together to advocate for women's rights and social equality through the
essays and novel in newspapers continuously.

Among the current demands for a change of governance in the reign of King Rama
VII, Contemporary publications were invaluable resources of social history that are highly worth
studying. As a result, the researcher discovered the driving and exchanging of ideas
between the authors and the readers on both progressive and conservative

newspapers, particularly in the women's magazines. This phenomenon was truly like the first
step of Thai women's status blossoming.
